...cleaned the fascia on the bungalow and saw a ladybird... and as the first sign of Spring goes... that's one I'd enjoyed seeing.

15th March 2006 and 21st Century Train Travel

13:23 Mar 16 2006

Another morning on the train and this morning the trains are running normally, so far.

It has been raining and to judge by how wet everything is, it had been a heavy rainfall.

I’m still in an analytical state of mind, but not as black as yesterday, as I’d traversed from Rock Ferry to Hamilton Square.

I would say as an estimate, that there were at least three hundred people at Rock Ferry when I’d got the train yesterday: and all of them seemingly waiting for just on bus.

It had been ridiculous.

As it was, I had walked through the crowds and up the stairs, to walk to Birkenhead, where I’d been assured I would be able to get a train to Liverpool.

As it transpired, by the time I got to Birkenhead Central the information I’d been given had already been rendered inaccurate, trains no longer stopped there.

So, I’d walked then walked to Hamilton Square, thankful of the company of a fellow commuter, in the same position as myself.

I’d grown tired by that point by that point you see and his company had kept me going a little, as he’d moaned about our travelling: after which I’d taken my turn, at moaning, about the journey so far.

That brief outlet for our frustration, combined with a pleasant morning that had turned an atrocious journey into a tolerable one.

Just an observation.

And then there was Sunday; and the whole day had gone well… I had visited Karl, trudging to his home amidst the thick, melting snow, where we’d talked of sci-fi shows and computers and he’d recorded ‘Firefly’ disc 2 for me, to complete my collection, which I’d acquired for £1.45, from MVC in Birkenhead when it was closing down. All the discs for the series had been there, bar one, disc 2, which I now have, thanks to Karl.

I’d then returned home to a good roast meal with my folks after which I’d enjoyed a pleasant conversation with Cecilia, my Ladyfriend.

And then, just a little later my friend John had called round.

We’d chatted and chilled, talking about media art and films: and he’d shown me the short film he’d completed to a simple music score.

I’d liked his use of time lapse, which had been a happy accident for him, it seems, as he had endeavored to fit the action to the music.

Anyway, when he’d left, I recall saying to my Little Mother that if every day went as well as that one had, I’d be the ally happiest man alive.

And, a thought occurs to me as I type this: “Isn’t it strange how one really good day can act to completely change your mood?” Just an observation.

Supernatural

Talking of tv shows I like: I also like that American import ‘Supernatural’ whilst dislike with a great deal of enmity that trash that is the new ‘Tarzan.’

I mean, I’ve read almost every Tarzan book. I liked the Weismuller films; and liked Ron Ely as the sixties tv Tarzan. But, that trash I saw the other day just left me feeling angered, as not only have they Americanized the character and situations – but, they have turned it into another ‘Beauty and the Beast’ with all the associate gloss and overdone shmaltz.

The Edgar Rice Burroughs Estate should be remonstrated with severely, for allowing the name Tarzan to be put to that… that… rubbish.

So, you get the idea? I don’t like it.

2nd March

16:10 Mar 05 2006

Yesterday, a squirrel, a robin’s song in the embankment behind where I stood and a blue sky had been the start to the morning.

And, I’d waited on the platform… until finally the train came.

It arrived late and to judge by the amount of people standing, like myself, they missed out the previous train.

As I stood there balanced against the swaying of the train, amongst the many others standing as well, I’d mused with mild amusement, “Ha, I’ve finally found balance.”

I’d finished my project work, so I won’t be travelling to town now: so it’s almost quite pleasing that I quite enjoy this new journeying.
